About Jade
Jade Sanchez is an Mexican/American dancer, choreographer, creative director, filmmaker, and multimedia artist with Aztec & Irish roots, Born and raised on the California coast, she is passionate about collaboration with the intention of bringing women of unique gifts and backgrounds together though movement & art. Her message is to live closer to the earth. She is located deep in the Appalachian forest and travels often to bring, perspective, diversity, and culture into her work and dance.
Dance & Movement
Jade is devoted to holding movement based spaces where those partaking in a project can explore the voice of earth that moves through each person individually. These dance projects feature a global network of dancers from all around the world. Through her work she explores using choreography as a medium of embodying that voice while also celebrating the feminine spirit.
With the intention of forming a movement of bringing women together to create powerful art that we can only make when we are in sync together, Jade creates intentional spaces for women to learn dance on a technical level, but with a softer more nature-paced approach. Primal & natural feminine motions mixed with contemporary dance, belly dance, & improvisational movement, come together to make up a unique style and intensive dance training for the participant.
Reclamation Through Art
Jade calls in women to gather from all different lineages, ages, & backgrounds. The intention is to create unity through sisterhood, & to thrive in the uniqueness of our own individual dances. Through dance, we strengthen our connection to the earth & our ancestors, unlock creative wildness & potential, & become skilled dancers & performers, while moving from a place of honoring the cycles & feminine rhythms.
A unique approach Jade weaves in, is working with visual media as a way to showcase art pieces & choreography concepts, often collaborating with ‘Earthbased Media,’ a production company ran by Summit Jaffe (co-founder, cinematographer & music composer) & Jade Sanchez (co-founder, artistic director & choreographer). The experience consists of creating safe & inspiring containers to bring forth emotive & evoking expression through short films featuring choreography and movement messages portrayed through dance in a way that can be shared globally. In these spaces healing and art is wove together through the medium of ceremonial filmmaking.
